{"id":1040,"date":"2023-11-16T21:04:24","date_gmt":"2023-11-16T18:04:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/en.coagri.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=1040"},"modified":"2023-11-16T21:16:46","modified_gmt":"2023-11-16T18:16:46","slug":"phd-dissertation-on-the-characteristics-of-date-palm-waste-a-discussion-at-the-college-of-agricultural-engineering-sciences","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/en.coagri.uobaghdad.edu.iq\/?p=1040","title":{"rendered":"PhD Dissertation on the Characteristics of Date Palm Waste: A Discussion at the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: Open Sans; font-size: 16px;\">In the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences at the University of Baghdad, the doctoral thesis titled &#8220;Study of the Functional and Manufacturing Characteristics of Date Molasses Industry Waste and Its Effects on the Nutrition of Experimental Rats&#8221; was discussed by the student Israa Mahmoud Hweidi Alfalahi from the Department of Food Sciences.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3 dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: Open Sans; font-size: 16px;\">The thesis aimed to study the chemical composition and some active compounds in the pulp and kernels of Zahedi dates, as well as the possibility of utilizing waste from molasses factories (date kernels and pulp) after studying their chemical composition. This utilization involves preparing products with nutritional and therapeutic value by replacing regular oil with date kernel oil in the production of cream. The study also sought to understand the properties contributing to increased storage duration and identify the nutritional impact of these waste materials, observing their biological effects on the weights and health of experimental animals.<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3 dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-family: Open Sans; font-size: 16px;\">The researcher recommended further investigation into the potential use of date kernel powder in some food industries and studying the role of concentrates such as date kernels and pulp as antioxidants. Moreover, they suggested using these concentrates in preparing diet foods, meat products, and grains due to their high protein and dietary fibre content. Additionally, date pulp could be used in producing fibres that help reduce blood sugar and alleviate constipation.
