In the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences at the University of Baghdad, a defence of a Master’s thesis entitled “Derivation of Individual Hybrids and Study of Phenotypic and Genetic Variation of Various Okra Compositions” was conducted by the student Maha Musa Habib from the Department of Horticulture Landscape and Gardening.<\/span><\/h3>\n

The study aimed to understand the performance of a group of genetic compositions (varieties and hybrids) of okra based on genetic factors, evaluate the performance of locally derived hybrids using the line\u00d7tester method and their parents, calculate hybrid vigour, and study the genetic parameters and gene action for the purpose of producing superior hybrids.<\/span><\/h3>\n

The researcher also recommended planting the outstanding hybrids in different environments and conditions to assess their genetic stability over several years and to benefit from parents that are more compatible in the desired direction (O10 O7 O4 O3 O1) for a number of measured traits, distinguishing their hybrids from commercial hybrids.<\/span><\/h3>\n
