The Department of Field Crop Sciences, College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences, University of Baghdad, organized a scientific workshop titled “Environmental Conservation and the Role of Afforestation” as part of the National Afforestation Day celebration. The workshop was presented by Assistant Professor Hussein Kazhar Shallal, in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Hameed Saudi, the head of the department, and Associate Professor Raam Shakir Mahmoud, the department’s rapporteur, along with several faculty members and graduate students.<\/span><\/h3>\n

The lecture aimed to highlight the negative effects resulting from the increasing emission of carbon dioxide and emphasize the importance of individuals playing their role in preserving the surrounding environment by focusing on tree planting. Encouraging afforestation within cities is crucial considering its climatic, health, and economic benefits, especially as Iraq urgently needs to increase green spaces to mitigate the effects of global warming.<\/span><\/h3>\n
