During the cultural season of the Department of Animal Production, and in the presence of the department head, Professor Dr. Hussam Jassim Bananah, along with a number of department faculty members and graduate students, Master’s student Safa Kamel Kazem presented a seminar entitled “Genetic Diversity in Buffaloes Based on Some Microsatellite Sequences and Their Relationship to Production Performance”.<\/span><\/h3>\n

The seminar aimed to highlight the importance of precise genetic markers and to determine the genetic diversity in buffaloes based on some genetic markers using Microsatellite sequencing technology, as well as the relationship of some markers to the performance of Iraqi buffaloes.<\/span><\/h3>\n

The researcher pointed out the variation in the number of genetic loci and alleles for genetic markers at each site, and the presence of significant genetic diversity in Iraqi buffaloes through the variations obtained for some markers, as well as mitochondrial genes, especially 16S rRNA. Additionally, there was a significant relationship between some markers and daily milk production, growth, total protein, and globulin in the blood.<\/span><\/h3>\n
