During the cultural season of the Department of Soil Sciences and Water Resources, and in the presence of the department’s head, Assistant Professor Dr. Shatha Majid Nafawah, along with several faculty members and graduate students, doctoral student Amar Jabbar Abdul Razzaq presented a seminar entitled “Land Suitability for Irrigation to Achieve Sustainable Green Environment”.<\/span><\/h3>\n

The seminar aimed to shed light on the concept of land suitability for irrigation as it plays a crucial role in determining the feasibility and sustainability of agricultural practices, methods, and systems used in its calculations, and the influencing factors such as soil texture, topography, water availability and quality, and climatic conditions.<\/span><\/h3>\n

The researcher emphasized the importance of considering social and economic factors and involving stakeholders in this assessment, as well as understanding the compatibility between the concepts of land suitability for irrigation and land productivity, and integrating them for the purpose of environmental sustainability and protection of diverse and productive natural resources (soil and water) over time, and their prudent use without depletion or waste. He highlighted the importance of their availability together as a source of information for decision-makers.<\/span><\/h3>\n
