Assistant Professor Dr. Zina Mohammed Abdulqader, a faculty member in the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Gardening at our college, participated as a member in a scientific discussion for a doctoral dissertation at the College of Agriculture \/ Al-Qasim Green University \/ Department of Field Crops. The dissertation was presented by researcher Heba Mukhlif Hardan and was titled “Response of Some Black Barley Varieties to Nitrogen Fertilizer and the Amino Acid Phenylalanine, and Grain Content of Some Anthocyanin Compounds and Their Antioxidant Activity.”<\/span><\/h3>\n

The dissertation addressed the medical and nutritional importance of black barley, as it is considered one of the therapeutic foods important for treating diabetic patients and those suffering from high blood cholesterol levels due to its high content of certain anthocyanin compounds and their antioxidant activity in inhibiting free radicals. The study also explored the best barley varieties that produced the highest yield and the varieties that had the highest concentration of certain anthocyanin compounds under the conditions of Babil and Qadisiyah provinces using nitrogen fertilization and the amino acid phenylalanine.<\/span><\/h3>\n

The faculty member received a letter of thanks and appreciation from the college dean for enriching the dissertation with precise scientific observations during the student’s discussion.<\/span><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
