In pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals in quality education, the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences at the University of Baghdad organized, as part of the cultural season of the Department of Agricultural Machines and Equipment, a workshop attended by a number of faculty members and students of the department. The workshop, titled “The Positive and Negative Impact of CO2 Gas on Sustainable Development,” was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Nasir Salman Kazem.<\/span><\/h3>\n

The workshop aimed to explore the negative effects of CO2 gas on the environment, particularly its contributions to climate change, manifested in current-day floods, hurricanes in some regions, droughts, and desertification in others, as well as the measures taken by countries to mitigate these negative effects. Additionally, the workshop addressed the positive effects of the increased levels of carbon dioxide on plant growth, soil stabilization, and its role in firefighting, as it is a non-flammable gas and does not aid combustion. Moreover, it discussed its numerous uses in medicine, pharmacy, industry, and food preservation. Many researchers have emphasized that there is an exaggeration in the impact of this gas on the phenomenon of global warming, as its proportion in the atmosphere does not exceed 0.04%. Thus, there are other factors, mostly anthropogenic, that have led to this phenomenon.<\/span><\/h3>\n

The workshop included scientific discussions related to its topic, with the participation of several faculty members and students.<\/span><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
