At the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences, University of Baghdad, a doctoral defense was held for the dissertation titled “The Role of Added Magnesium in the Chemical Equilibrium of Potassium Forms in Soils with Different Textures and Growth of Yellow Corn,” by the student Mansour Farhan Madloul from the Department of Soil Sciences and Water Resources.<\/span><\/h3>\n

The study aimed to investigate the effect of added magnesium on the dispersion of soil particles and its impact on the nature of the mineral structure. It also examined its influence on the chemical equilibrium forms of potassium, its movement in the soil, and its relationship to plant growth.<\/span><\/h3>\n

The researcher recommended conducting further studies on the effect of magnesium on soil properties in other types of soils, as the soils in this study were non-saline and had a low organic matter content. The researcher also suggested the possibility of adopting kinetic equations to mathematically describe the process of potassium release, conducting other experiments based on thermodynamic equilibrium, and using intensity and capacity curves to determine the contribution extent of the regulatory capacity of exchangeable and non-exchangeable potassium.<\/span><\/h3>\n
