The Department of Field Crop Sciences at the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences, University of Baghdad, organized a seminar titled “Shading and Spraying with Plant Extracts on the Growth, Yield, and Steviol Glycosides Content in Stevia Leaves.” The seminar was presented by Master’s student Noor Shaker Khushan, under the supervision of Professor Dr. Sudad Kadhim Al-Taweel, and was attended by Professor Dr. Ahmed Hameed Saudi, the Head of the Department, faculty members, and postgraduate students.<\/span><\/h3>\n

The seminar aimed to highlight the importance of studying and understanding the environment and suitable conditions for the growth of sugar leaf plants in the central region of Iraq. It focused on the physiological performance and yield under plant shading conditions, specifically with a 50% shading level, compared to cultivation in open fields exposed to direct sunlight. Additionally, the seminar explored the impact of spraying with aqueous extracts of moringa leaf powder and extract of licorice root at different concentrations. The effects were assessed in terms of improving vegetative growth, economic yield of leaves, and consequently, increasing the production of natural local products.<\/span><\/h3>\n
