Dissertation on the Nutrients Availability in the Soil was Defended in the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences
A doctoral dissertation titled “The Impact of Foliar Spraying with Plant Aqueous Extracts and Bio-fertilization on Soil Nutrient Availability, Plant Nutrient Content, and Potato Productivity” was successfully defended at the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences, University of Baghdad. The student, Ahmed Abdul Hassan Hadi from the Department of Soil Sciences and Water Resources, conducted the research.
The study aimed to assess the effects of foliar spraying with plant aqueous extracts and the addition of biological and mineral fertilizers, as well as their interactions, on increasing the availability of N, P, K nutrients, the growth and yield of potato plants, and the quantity provided by plant aqueous extracts and biological fertilizers when replacing mineral fertilizers during potato cultivation.
The researcher recommended, during the cultivation process, the essential need to maintain the presence of essential nutrients in the soil, especially nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. Furthermore, it was emphasized to conduct future research to explore the impact of biological fertilizers on the chemical and physical aspects of the soil, along with strategies to enhance soil fertility.
