Department of Field Crop Sciences

The Department of Field Crops Sciences was established in 1952 with the beginning of the establishment of the College of Agriculture, where it was called the Department of Plant Production, and after the increase in the scientific teaching staff, the department developed to take its place in supplying agricultural institutions with required scientific competencies. In 1962, the department began granting a bachelor’s degree in field crop sciences, after restructuring the scientific departments in the college. The field crops department program includes training students to acquire applied agricultural experience in addition to academic theoretical foundations.
