In the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences at the University of Baghdad, the defence of the master’s thesis titled “The Impact of Substituting Soybean Meal with Azolla pinnata Plant” was successfully conducted by the student Yas Khudair Abbas from the Department of Animal Production.

The study aimed to provide a cost-effective, nutritionally rich, and easily producible unconventional feed represented by the Azolla plant, replacing it with soybean meal, and to investigate its effects on the daily and total feed intake.

The researcher recommended conducting field and pilot experiments instead of coarse feeds, as well as conducting a field experiment using higher proportions of the ratios used to ensure their suitability. Additionally, experiments were suggested to determine the degree of protein breakdown of the Azolla plant in the animal’s stomach.

Congratulations to the student on the success of the defence, and best wishes for continued success in his academic journey.
