The College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences, in cooperation with the Follow-up Department at the University of Baghdad Presidency and the National Security Service – Anti-Drugs Division, organized an awareness workshop titled “The Menace of Drugs and Its Impact on the University Community”. The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Amira Mohammed Saleh, Dean of the College, distinguished guests, faculty members, and students.
The workshop began with a welcoming speech delivered by Zikra Khalid Mohammed, who extended her greetings to the Dean, guests, and lecturers. She emphasized the importance of raising student awareness about the dangers of drugs, their destructive effects on individuals and society, and the role of academic institutions in supporting national anti-drug efforts.
The workshop included informative lectures presented by several officers from the National Security Service. They covered key topics such as the types of commonly used drugs, their health, psychological, and social impacts, methods of promotion and enticement targeting youth and students, legal procedures and penalties for drug use or trafficking, and the crucial role of families and educational institutions in early prevention and awareness-raising.
