The Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences, University of Baghdad, in cooperation with the National Center for Population and Demographic Studies at the university, organized a scientific symposium entitled “Changing Environmental Impact: An Urgent Necessity to Confront Climate Change.” The event was attended by a number of faculty members and students from the college. The symposium included a series of topics addressing the understanding of climate challenges, the development of adaptation strategies, and methods for mitigating their effects.
The symposium aimed to raise awareness of the importance of future planning for climate change and its impact on communities and the environment, as well as to develop and strengthen the capacities of institutions and individuals in the field of climate change. It also sought to establish comprehensive action plans and effective measures at both local and national levels to address climate challenges, and to engage stakeholders from various sectors — government, private sector, and civil society, with a particular focus on the role of women — in climate-related decision-making processes.
The event also included the distribution of informational booklets to attendees, highlighting the importance of environmental awareness and educating citizens on the impact of climate change.
