The College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences at the University of Baghdad organized a seminar session as part of the activities of the Plant Protection Department during its cultural season. The session was presented by doctoral student Asmaa Abdel-Monem Taleb and was titled “Past and Present: The Evolution of Viruses and Host Resistance within Geographical Centers of Plant Diversity.”
The session was chaired by the head of the postgraduate studies, Professor Dr. Radi Fadel Al-Jassani. The aim of the session was to understand the study of some important viral diseases in Iraq, the methods of transmission of plant viruses, the physiological changes that occur in plants when infected, and the techniques used to diagnose plant viruses. The discussion also covered methods for controlling viruses, viral diseases, and natural resistance in plants to viruses.
The session included scientific discussions in the presence of several faculty members from the department and postgraduate students.
