The University Psychological Counseling Unit, in cooperation with the Media and Government Communication Division at the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences, University of Baghdad, organized a workshop titled “The Phenomenon of Drug Addiction and Its Impact on Society.”
The workshop, delivered by Dr. Muthanna Falahy Hammoud, Head of the Counseling Unit, was attended by a number of faculty members and students.
The session addressed the societal impact of drug addiction, highlighting its threats to economic, security, and social stability, in addition to its role in family disintegration. It also discussed appropriate ways to deal with addiction cases, methods of prevention, and the broader negative implications for communities.
The workshop concluded with several recommendations, including promoting awareness on how to address this phenomenon, emphasizing the importance of family monitoring, and reinforcing the role of governmental oversight.
