The Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences, University of Baghdad, in cooperation with the Department of Plant Protection, the National Center for Population and Demographic Studies, and the Mixed College of Science, organized an awareness campaign titled “Changing Environmental Impact: An Urgent Need to Address Climate Change.”
The campaign highlighted the importance of raising awareness about future climate change planning, informing students about mitigation mechanisms, and illustrating the effects of these changes on communities and the environment.
The campaign recommended strengthening institutional and individual capacities and emphasized the need for collective efforts to develop comprehensive plans and effective measures at both local and national levels. It also stressed the importance of involving stakeholders from various sectors—private sector and civil society—in climate-related decision-making processes.
The event included distributing a booklet explaining the impact of agriculture on the environment, as well as flower seeds for students to plant.
This activity supports the Sustainable Development Goals related to quality education and climate action.
