Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Ameera Mohammed Saleh, Dean of the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences, and supervised by Prof. Dr. Hussam Jassim Hussein Bananah, Head of the Department of Animal Production, a scientific seminar titled “Animal Wealth in Iraq – Development Horizons” was held today in the Animal Production Department Hall.
The seminar was presented by Dr. Ibrahim Star Al-Saadi, Member of the Advisory Board at the Prime Minister’s Office, who highlighted the critical role of the animal production sector in supporting Iraq’s food basket. He emphasized the importance of large-scale projects in poultry, ruminants, and fish farms for strengthening national food security.
Dr. Al-Saadi also addressed the key challenges facing the sector and discussed strategies to enhance investment, develop infrastructure, and improve production efficiency.
The seminar featured contributions from faculty members, enriching discussions on supporting the livestock sector and expanding agricultural development opportunities.
This initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
