Under the direct supervision of the Head of the Animal Production Department, Professor Dr. Hussam Jasim Hussein Banna, several faculty members organized a scientific visit for fourth-year students to the Artificial Insemination Center of the Ministry of Agriculture.
The visit aimed to introduce students to the practical aspects of artificial insemination techniques in animals, including semen collection, evaluation, preservation, and storage, as well as understanding the vital role of these techniques in improving genetic traits and increasing livestock productivity.
A field demonstration was provided by the center staff, showcasing the equipment, laboratories, and procedures in accordance with scientific standards, linking theoretical knowledge with practical application and enhancing students’ scientific skills.
This visit aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals by supporting Goal 2 (Zero Hunger) through sustainable livestock production and food security, Goal 4 (Quality Education) by promoting hands-on learning and scientific capacity building, and Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by preparing qualified professionals to develop the agricultural and production sector.
The visit is part of the department’s curriculum and reflects its ongoing commitment to strengthening students’ practical experience and expanding their scientific knowledge in line with sustainable development and labor market needs.
