The Tissue Culture Plant Acclimatization Laboratory was inaugurated at the site of the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences in Abu Ghraib.
The Dean of the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences, University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Amira Mohammed Saleh, inaugurated the Plant Tissue Culture Acclimatization Laboratory as part of the college’s ongoing efforts to align with scientific advancements, support research initiatives, and monitor the progress and outcomes of applied scientific work.
The Dean reviewed the stages of growth and development of in vitro plantlets, starting from the establishment, multiplication, and proliferation stages through to the rooting stage within culture vessels, in addition to following the technical procedures adopted in the hardening and acclimatization processes.
She also inspected the greenhouse dedicated to the acclimatization of tissue-cultured plantlets and reviewed the mechanisms for transferring them to suitable environmental conditions. She commended the technical efforts exerted in this facility, which contribute to advancing the scientific mission and supporting postgraduate students at the college.
During the tour, Assistant Professor Dr. Mayada Tareq Alwan provided a comprehensive technical explanation of the physiological and technical procedures used in transferring plants from the in vitro stage to ex vitro (field) conditions. She expressed her appreciation for the continuous support and constructive guidance of the Dean’s office, which contributes to strengthening and developing the research environment.
