The Department of Food Sciences, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit and the Women’s Affairs Unit of the University Health Division, organized a workshop entitled “Cosmetic Procedures and Their Types.” The workshop was delivered by Dr. Fadhila Saadoun Jaber from the University Health Division and the Women’s Affairs Unit liaison officer, with the attendance of a number of the college’s faculty members.
The workshop aimed to introduce participants to cosmetic procedures and their various types, as well as the medical and health-related reasons for undergoing such procedures. It also addressed the potential side effects that may result from some cosmetic interventions. The attending faculty members enriched the discussion through questions and inquiries covering various aspects of these procedures, including how to make appropriate and balanced choices that promote psychological well-being, self-satisfaction, and social comfort for women.
The workshop recommended that paying attention to one’s appearance and making simple enhancements that highlight a woman’s natural beauty is acceptable, provided that such practices are carried out in moderation and without excess.
This workshop was conducted as part of the Continuing Education Unit’s activities aimed at promoting community health within the framework of the National Security Strategy. It also contributes to achieving Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-Being).
