In the presence of Professor Dr. Hussam Jasim Hussein Bannanah, the head of the Department of Animal Production, and a number of department faculty members, Professor Dr. Mohammed Shakir Al-Khashali delivered a lecture on his published research titled “The Impact of Elevated Salinity Concentrations on Some Growth Traits and Feed Intake of Herbivorous Carp.” The study aimed to determine the adaptability of herbivorous carp to gradually increasing salinity concentrations in the central and southern regions of Iraq, and its effect on some growth traits and feed intake.

The study concluded that exposing herbivorous carp to gradually increasing salinity concentrations of 3, 6, 9, and 12 g/litre led to a decrease in growth rates due to reduced appetite and lower rates of food intake, especially at salinity concentrations exceeding 3 g/litre compared to the 0.1 g/litre concentration, which represents the control treatment.

We extend our best wishes to everyone for success and further contributions in service to the department and the college.
