The Department of Food Sciences organized a scientific trip to the Manawi Basha bakeries, Bab Al-Aga bakeries, and Al-Mumtaz Mill (Al-Awireej Industrial Area) as part of the practical component of the Grain Technology course for third-year students of the Department of Food Sciences. The trip was supervised by Assistant Professor Dr. Saba Jafar and Dr. Azaldin Kazem Al-Muhiaawi. All attendees were briefed on the production lines and the manufacturing process of various baked goods, as well as packaging processes. The students observed the products on display and the methods of cooling baked goods, leading to the packaging process.
The students noted the commitment of the staff to implementing the highest standards of cleanliness and the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) program. Subsequently, a tour was conducted inside Al-Mumtaz Mill, where everyone was guided step by step through the explanation of the shipment and reception parts, milling and sieving machines, culminating in the flour packaging process. A shield of appreciation was presented to the bakery management, acknowledging their efforts and warm reception on behalf of the college and department.
The students’ high level of interaction and commitment was evident, reflecting the prestigious image of the college. They engaged in dialogue with the administrations and specialists, answering questions posed by the companies’ management and employees. This is evidence of their keen interest and the extent of their benefit from the Grain Manufacturing Technology course. The managements were impressed by the students’ responses and praised the teaching staff for addressing these details in both theoretical and practical aspects.
Our best wishes to our students and supporting entities for continued success, prosperity, and excellence.
