A doctoral dissertation entitled “Bacteria-phages as Candidates for Bio-control of Some Bacteria Contaminated Raw Foods” was defended at the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences, University of Baghdad. The student, Ali Hussein Fayad from the Department of Food Sciences, conducted the study.
The aim of the research was to assess antibiotic sensitivity, isolate bacterial bacteria-phages from various environmental sources using optimal methods, and characterize the bacterial bacteria-phage in light of studying the optimal conditions for bacterial bacteria-phage proliferation.
The researcher recommended conducting further studies to support the synergistic effect of bacteria-phages with other antibiotics, performing more experiments on the combination of two or more bacteria-phages for complete bacterial control, and finally, conducting studies on experimental mice to determine the potential and effectiveness of bacteria-phages compared to antibiotics.
Congratulations to the student on this success.
