A Symposium about Integrated Management of Agricultural Pests was Held on College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences
The Plant Protection Department at the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences / University of Baghdad organized a scientific symposium titled “Integrated Management of Agricultural Pests” as part of the Environment and Sustainability Program. The seminar was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Hala Kazem Jabir Al-Jubouri and Lecturer Samar Muthanna Najm Al-Qaisi from the Plant Protection Department, in the presence of the Head of the Plant Protection Department, Dr. Bushra Sabir Abdul Sada, and the Department’s rapporteur, Dr. Saad Tarek Abdul Malik, along with several faculty members and graduate students. The seminar aimed to introduce Integrated Pest Management (IPM), its importance, and objectives, including reducing the use of agricultural pesticides and using environmentally safe pesticides, preserving beneficial organisms and ecological balance, maintaining human and animal health, conserving water sources and air purity, producing pesticide residue-free fruits, and improving farmers’ income by utilizing sustainable and clean methods of integrated agricultural pest management. Among its recommendations were the adoption of information management and analysis systems to make the best possible production decisions at the lowest costs, as well as the automation of agricultural operations such as pest control, irrigation, crop monitoring, and weather factors through research to reduce environmental pollution and encourage activities that contribute to the development of a clean university environment, organizing workshops, seminars, and courses that promote and educate on environmental preservation and protection from pollutants.
