A Seminar discussed by the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences
During the cultural season of the Department of Animal Production, in the presence of the department’s head, Professor Dr. Hussam Jasim Bananah, and a number of department faculty members and graduate students, doctoral student Fadel Abbas Mahmoud Al-Fouadi presented a seminar entitled “Nutritional Requirements of Ostriches from Day One to 120 Days”.
The seminar aimed to identify the nutritional elements and their proportions to achieve the best productive performance for ostriches due to the lack of a consistent guide for the nutritional requirements of ostriches (covering all nutritional elements).
The researcher emphasized the necessity of reinforcing ostrich diets with 18% protein, 2400 kilocalories/energy, 7.88 grams/kilogram of fiber, 1.5 grams of calcium, and 14 grams of salt per kilogram.
