Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences, Dr. Amira Mohammed Saleh, and in pursuit of the goals of sustainable development in (quality education), the Plant Protection Department at the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences, University of Baghdad, in collaboration with the Continuous Education Unit in our college, organized a training course titled “The Latest Types of Technology in Plant Disease Resistance”. The course featured a selection of professors from the Plant Protection Department presenting the latest global and local technologies that provide protection for plants against diseases caused by fungi, bacteria, viruses, as well as contamination with fungal toxins. The aim of the training course was to introduce trainees to the importance of these technologies through lectures delivered by the following:

Dr. Halima Zghair Hussein: Nanotechnology and its role in detecting pathogens and fungal toxins and their resistance genes.

Dr. Huriya Hussein Shahab: Bio-vaporizers and their role in combating plant pathogens.

Dr. Noor Abdulilah: Strategies for diagnosing and managing plant virus diseases: What’s new?

Dr. Alaa Khudair Hassan: How to employ biocontrol agents as commercial pesticides in plant disease control.

Dr. Iman Khalil Abdul Karim: The role of magnesium oxide and nano-chitosan in combating pathogenic agents.

A large number of employees from the departments affiliated with the Ministry of Agriculture, as well as lecturers, graduate students, and affiliates from various departments of the college, participated in the course.
