Defending a Master’s thesis on the Aphid in the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences
At the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences, University of Baghdad, a defense of the master’s thesis entitled (Ecological Study of the Types of Aphids Affecting Apple Trees and Evaluation of the Efficiency of Some Pesticides in Controlling Them) was conducted by the student Fatimah Majid Ahmed from the Plant Protection Department.
The study aimed to diagnose the types of mealybug insects on the local apple varieties cultivated in Iraq, study their relative presence, and population density during the agricultural season, as well as survey and diagnose the biological enemies (predators and parasites) accompanying the mealybug insects on different apple varieties.
The researcher recommended the use of biological enemies to control insect pests in apple trees, as well as the cultivation of apple varieties resistant or tolerant to mealybug infestations.
Congratulations to the researcher and wishing her further success.
