A defense took place at the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences, University of Baghdad, for the doctoral dissertation entitled (Isolation and Identification of Some Components of Moringa Leaves and Study of Their Functional Properties and Applications in Food Manufacturing), by the student Wael Jasab Hamoud from the Department of Food Sciences.

The study aimed to prepare aqueous and alcoholic extracts of Moringa oleifera leaf powder and study their content of active compounds, as well as study their inhibitory activity against some types of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and their antioxidant activity, and to select the best extracts in terms of effectiveness and vitality.

The researcher recommended promoting the cultivation of Moringa oleifera trees in Iraq and utilizing their parts in nutritional and therapeutic applications, as well as studying the synergistic effect of Moringa leaf extracts with extracts of other plants and creating mixtures with different proportions to preserve food and treat some medical conditions.
