The College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences at the University of Baghdad witnessed the defense of the doctoral dissertation entitled “Evaluation of the Economic, Environmental, and Social Impacts of the Integrated Pest Management Program in Date Palm Orchards in Iraq,” by student Mohammed Jasim Ali from the Department of Agricultural Economics.

The study aimed to identify the economic and social factors influencing the adoption rate of the Integrated Pest Management Program in date palm orchards using qualitative response models, as well as estimating the economic benefits resulting from the Integrated Pest Management Program for date palm orchards in Iraq.

The researcher recommended the necessity of issuing an organic agriculture law that would contribute to the formation of farms relying on clean control, as well as increasing state support for programs and projects aimed at reducing reliance on chemical pesticides and relying on alternatives that pose less risk to human health and environmental categories.

Congratulations to the researcher and wishing him further success.
