A defense of the master’s thesis entitled “The Role of Super-absorbent Polymer, Biochar, and Antitranspirant on Some Growth Indicators of Yellow Maize and its Water Use Efficiency under Different Levels of Drought Stress” was conducted at the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences / University of Baghdad by the student Fatima Emad Mohammed from the Department of Field Crop Sciences.

The study aimed to understand the importance and role of super-absorbent polymer, as well as the use of biochar and antitranspirant on some growth indicators of yellow maize and its water use efficiency under various levels of drought stress.

The researcher recommended the use of biochar, sodium acrylate polymer, and antitranspirant in case of water scarcity. Additionally, she suggested researching organic compounds that can mimic the polymer’s function to achieve sustainability and avoid environmental pollution from synthetic compounds.

Congratulations to the researcher and wishing her continued success.
