At the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences, University of Baghdad, a defense of the doctoral dissertation titled “The Impact of Financial and Monetary Policy Indicators on the Agricultural Foreign Trade Gap” was held for the student Muqdad Jassim Obaid from the Department of Agricultural Economics.

The study aimed to analyze and study the agricultural foreign trade gap in Iraq for the period 1990-2022 by examining the exports and imports of various agricultural goods to determine the size of the gap, as well as to identify the impact of financial and monetary policy indicators on the size of the gap.

The researcher recommended reconsidering Iraq’s trade partners, particularly those with high inflation rates leading to increased food prices, and working on establishing a comprehensive and systematic economic policy for the countries, and controlling the demand for foreign currency by directing it towards the import of goods.

Congratulations to the researcher and wishing him further success.
