In the context of striving to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals in quality education, the Department of Soil Sciences and Water Resources at the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences, University of Baghdad, in collaboration with the Continuous Education Unit, organized a workshop titled “The Use of Machine Learning in Soil and Plant Analysis Using R Language and Good Learning,” delivered by Dr. Ahmed Abduljabbar Jasim. The workshop was sponsored by Professor Amira Mohammed Saleh, Dean of the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences, and supervised by Assistant Professor Shatha Majid Nafawah, Head of the Department of Soil Sciences and Water Resources. The workshop was directed by Professor Nouraldin Shoukhi Ali and attended by several faculty members, as well as graduate students.
The workshop aimed to introduce the importance of using mathematical models and harnessing them to solve scientific problems using modern scientific methods to overcome processes that are difficult to perform under conventional conditions. Machine learning comprises a set of mathematical operations through direct application by selecting the appropriate statistical program such as R.
The workshop covered enhancing these equations and increasing their accuracy, followed by predictive operations and working on some data related to crop growth and certain growth indicators. These solutions and processes are intended to overcome obstacles for researchers to obtain suitable and realistic results, useful for publication in international scientific journals, as this is considered one of the important and recognized pillars by international publishing journals. Moreover, from a practical perspective, it provides an accurate real-world insight into the scientific results obtained from data under various conditions.
Our wishes to Dr. Ahmed Abduljabbar for further scientific contributions in service to our beloved country.
