To achieve the goals of sustainable development in quality education, the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences at the University of Baghdad organized, as part of the activities of the Plant Protection Department during its cultural season, a discussion of the research plan presented by the master’s student Abbas Naama Mahmoud, entitled “Seasonal occurrence and some life aspects of the predator fly Ischiodon spp on the eggplant insect pest in protected agriculture.”

The session was supervised by Dr. Sahar Mohsen Saleh, the head of the Graduate Studies Department in the Plant Protection Department, Professor Dr. Radi Fadel Al-Jassani, and was attended by the head of the department, Assistant Professor Dr. Bushra Sabir Abdul Sada. During the session, the student presented the study objectives, which were as follows:

  1. Morphological and partial diagnosis of Ischiodon spp predator species.

  2. Study of the life cycle of the predator and the predatory efficiency of the dominant species.

  3. Identification of the types of pests affecting eggplant varieties and their dietary preference for the plant family.

The session included scientific discussions with the presence of several faculty members in the department and graduate students. We wish the student success and prosperity in his academic journey.
