Under the sponsorship of the First Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences at the University of Baghdad, represented by the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Amera Mohammed Saleh, participated in the Date Palm Conference with the theme “Iraqi Date Palm Plantation and Date Industry: Between Reality and Aspiration.” The conference was held in the Council of Representatives hall and was attended by a number of individuals interested in agricultural affairs.

The conference aims to provide financial and technical support, consultations, and logistical information that contribute to achieving goals related to sustainable date plantation, effective development of domestic marketing and foreign trade, as well as proposing systems, methods, rules to encourage the exchange of experiences, and information. In addition the conference aimed to the preparation and implementation of marketing and promotional programs for date consumption at local, regional, and international levels. It also aimed to enhance the role of the private sector in the production and marketing of local dates.

This is a successful step towards supporting sustainable development and enhancing the strategic plan for date plantation.
