The College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences at the University of Baghdad witnessed the defense of a PhD dissertation titled ‘An Economic Analytical Study of Agricultural Holdings and Their Relationship with Economic Efficiency, Risk, and Individual Food Security’ by Zahra Ali Muhammad from the Department of Agricultural Economics. This study aimed to assess the effects of land ownership on family food security, examine the relationship between them, and identify risk-management strategies. The researcher recommended the reclamation of saline and low-fertility lands through technical and technological studies that suggested the best modern methods used in these fields. She also emphasized the importance of rationalizing irrigation water consumption, which is vital for life, and optimizing the efficient use of this resource according to crop water requirements.
