A seminar titled “Water for Peace” discussed by the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences.
In line with the sustainable development goals for responsible consumption and production, and as part of the cultural season for the Department of Soil Science and Water Resources, Professor Dr. Alaa Saleh Ati presented a seminar titled “Water for Peace.” The session was attended by faculty members and graduate students from the department.
The seminar highlighted the need to encourage farmers to continue farming amidst climate change by implementing innovative solutions for more resilient agriculture in the face of water scarcity and climate challenges. This includes adopting feasible irrigation methods, modernising irrigation systems, improving the management of saline soils and drainage, and establishing water management governance supported by laws promoting agriculture and water footprint awareness. Additionally, it emphasised moving away from traditional water usage practices and raising awareness among the new generations of farmers.
