The College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences at the University of Baghdad hosted the defense of a doctoral dissertation titled “Assessment of the Spatial Environment of Riverbanks and Its Impact on the Design of Urban Landscape Vegetation for the City of Baghdad,” presented by the student Taleb Ahmed Kazem from the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Engineering.

The study aimed to evaluate the extent to which the location influences the nature of urban landscape vegetation along riverbanks and the impact of water on the surrounding environment, as well as how this affects community life. Additionally, it examined the community’s influence on this fabric through various interventions. The study also sought to establish a work program and theoretical and practical methodologies as an entry point for urban landscape and environmental design.

The researcher recommended studying the landscape design of riverbanks outside urban centers and emphasized the use of native plants that are adapted to the environment. Furthermore, he suggested employing traditional materials in implementation to reduce maintenance costs and ensure sustainability. Improving the skills and efficiency of workers and technicians in municipalities to align with their assigned tasks was also advised.

Congratulations to the researcher, and best wishes for continued success
