A workshop on the impact of drugs organized by the Agricultural Engineering Sciences.
The Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences at the University of Baghdad, in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior, organized a workshop titled “The Impact of Drugs on Iraqi Youth,” attended by a number of faculty members and students from the college.
The workshop included lectures delivered by Assistant Lecturer Zainab Abdul Jabbar Dawy from the Ministry of Interior and Dr. Hassan Ali Hassan, Director of the Diwan Affairs Department at the University of Baghdad.
The workshop addressed the definition of drugs, their types, methods of dissemination, reasons for drug use, and the effects of drugs on individuals and society.
The goal of the workshop was to raise awareness about the dangers of drugs and their devastating effects on individuals and society, empower participants to recognize the causes of addiction and how to prevent it, and equip them with the necessary skills to face the challenge of drugs while encouraging active participation in combating this phenomenon.
The workshop recommended that addressing the drug problem requires the concerted efforts of all members of society and both governmental and private institutions, with a focus on psychological and social factors. Understanding the psychological and social factors that lead youth to drug use is crucial, and efforts should be made to address these issues.
Additionally, alternative programs should be developed for youth, such as sports, cultural, and artistic activities, to fill their free time. Efforts to combat drug trafficking should be intensified, targeting the gangs involved in drug promotion.
Training and rehabilitation programs for those working in the field of drug control should be developed to incorporate the latest methods and techniques. Finally, scientific research in the field of drugs should be supported to develop prevention and treatment programs.
