The College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences at the University of Baghdad hosted a discussion of the PhD dissertation titled **“Using the Animal Model and Random Regression Model to Estimate Genetic Parameters for Egg Production in Local Brown Chickens Over Several Generations” by the student Bushra Faleh Hassan from the Department of Animal Production.

The dissertation aimed to determine heritability values and the effects of permanent environmental factors on animals, focusing on the promising performance of Iraqi local brown chickens. These chickens have shown significant potential in their productive traits.

The researcher recommended adopting estimates according to the single animal model, particularly for cumulative duration, noting that it may have slightly less accuracy compared to the random regression model. Additionally, selective breeding based on partial records could effectively enhance the productive performance of egg-laying flocks in local breeds.

Congratulations to the researcher, with best wishes for continued success.
