The College of Agriculture Library was established in 1952, coinciding with the founding of the college. The library consists of several units:
- Book Lending Unit
- Journals and Periodicals Unit
- Theses and Dissertations Unit
Library Departments
1. Cataloging and Classification Department (Administration):
This unit is responsible for cataloging and classifying the library’s collections and preparing a general index for use by all researchers. It also compiles lists of new books received annually by the student library and circulates them to all college departments for review.
2. Book Lending Department :
This unit is responsible for lending books to faculty, undergraduate and postgraduate students, and other researchers through a special library card. Borrowers can check out books for a specified period using the manual general index. There are two types of lending:
- Internal Lending: Books are borrowed and returned on the same day.
- External Lending: Books are borrowed for a limited period.
The unit houses approximately 36,038 books in Arabic and English, including 1,274 new books from 2010 to 2013. It also features special cabinets displaying new books for easy access by researchers.
3. Journals (Periodicals) Department :
This unit manages periodicals, which are publications issued at regular intervals. It includes around 410 English-language journal titles subscribed to by the college and approximately 30 Arabic-language journal titles, totaling 3,200 volumes. Periodicals are only available for internal lending.
4.Theses and Dissertations Department :
This unit is responsible for receiving, cataloging, classifying, and organizing all theses and dissertations from our college. It contains:
- 3,280 theses and dissertations in Arabic.
- 417 theses and dissertations in English.
- 160 theses and dissertations from the University of Damascus.
5. Bulletins, Periodicals, and Archived Books Department :
This unit serves as a storage space for books, periodicals, and bulletins donated by other universities, including duplicates or surplus materials not needed by the library.

The library building consists of three halls:
