Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences, Professor Dr. Amira Muhammad Salih, and under the supervision of the Head of the Agricultural Economics Department, Professor Dr. Iskandar Hussein Ali, the department organized a scientific workshop titled The Role of the Green Economy in the Agricultural Sector in Iraq.” The workshop was presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Salah Shukr, aiming to promote sustainable development goals.
The workshop highlighted the importance of the green economy as a tool for achieving sustainable agricultural development. It discussed the concept, origins, and role of the green economy in addressing environmental challenges. Emphasis was placed on the optimal use of natural resources and improving their efficiency.
The workshop aimed to clarify the relationship between the green economy and agricultural development. It also explored ways to reduce the carbon footprint of key crops in Iraq. Among its recommendations were the use of organic fertilizers and expanding green spaces to enhance agricultural production and protect soil. Wishing everyone success.
