College of Agricultural Engineering Holds Workshop on Dragon Fruit


The Department of Horticulture and Landscape Gardening held a dragon fruit workshop with the Continuing Education Unit. Faculty, staff, and postgraduate students attended in large numbers. M.Sc. Sahar Mohammed Turkan gave a detailed lecture on the topic. The session explored the fruit’s botanical features, alternative names, varieties, and best farming techniques.
The talk showcased dragon fruit’s health benefits, packed with vital vitamins and minerals. Antioxidants in the fruit help strengthen immunity and prevent illness, the speaker noted. Attendees also discussed its uses in medicine, nutrition, and decoration.
Experts recommended expanding dragon fruit farming for better profits. They urged improvements in growing conditions due to its high market value. All agreed on hosting more awareness programs about unconventional crops.
