Alaa Najeh Ayfan from Department OF Plant Protection successfully defended his MSc.work with the title (Studying the Life and Physiological Effects of Some Plant Extracts on the Greater Wax Moth (Galleria mellonella)
The study aimed to investigate the lethal effects of ethanol and hexane extracts of quinoa (Chenopodium quinoa) and angel’s trumpet (Brugmansia spp.) plants on the greater wax moth (Galleria mellonella). Additionally, it examined the impact of these plant extracts on the molting hormone (ecdysone) levels in the third and final larval instar.
The researcher recommended the use of ethanol extracts from quinoa seeds and angel’s trumpet leaves for controlling the greater wax moth. Furthermore, the study suggested conducting further research to explore the potential of these extracts in managing other insect pests
