The Legal Division was established at the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences / University of Baghdad under University Order No. 37120 on February 1, 2010, in implementation of the approval of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research under its letter No. 23204 on September 1, 2009. Previously, it was an administrative unit directly linked administratively and organizationally to the Dean in accordance with the applicable ministerial instructions. This establishment was due to the following reasons:
- The expansion of departments, divisions, and scientific and administrative units, resulting in an increase in the number of faculty members and college staff.
- The growing number of undergraduate and postgraduate students, exceeding six thousand students.
- The availability of the necessary legal staff.
- The magnitude of the tasks assigned to the division.
Tasks assigned to the staff of the Legal Division:
- Providing legal opinions on all matters and topics referred to the division.
- Following up on and attending all lawsuits before courts of various levels and police stations, whether filed by or against the college.
- Participating in all investigative and auditing committees, both temporary and permanent, of various types.
- Performing the duties of a notary public regarding the certification of guarantees and decisions related to college staff.
- Overseeing all matters related to the residential neighborhood file, which includes more than 150 housing units.
- Participating in all cases and follow-ups directed by the Dean of the College.
