As part of the Cultural Season of the Department of Field Crops and in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 4: Quality Education), the Department of Field Crops organized a workshop entitled “Steps for Processing Scientific Promotion Applications Using the Electronic Promotion System.”
The workshop was attended by the Head of the Department, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Hameed Saoudi, along with a number of faculty members and postgraduate students. The lecture was delivered by Prof. Dr. Suhad Mathkoor Abdul Sahib.
The workshop included a detailed explanation of the electronic system for scientific promotions launched by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research / Directorate of Research and Development. The system, which came into effect on April 14, 2025, consists of three main parts:
  • Part One covers the applicant’s personal and academic information, including details of obtained degrees.

  • Part Two involves the procedures of the academic department, such as verifying the application, conducting both manual and electronic plagiarism checks, applying AI-assisted validation, assessing journal quality, preparing the scientific committee report, and completing the general and specific specialization forms as well as the research track documentation.

  • Part Three focuses on verification by the subcommittee for promotions, review by the College Council, and forwarding the application to the Central Promotions Committee.

The lecturer recommended that faculty members stay updated with the latest developments related to scientific promotions, ensure that all research listed under Table 1 is uploaded along with all required documentation—such as proof of journal quality and correspondence between the researcher and the journal—and submit Table 2 activities in accordance with the promotion regulations, accompanied by the necessary approvals and confirmations.
