As part of the requirements of the Advanced Food Safety and Hygiene course, the Department of Food Science, College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences – University of Baghdad organized a scientific field visit to the United Arab Food Industries Company, accompanied by Prof. Dr. Ilham Ismail Al-Shammari and Dr. Noor Shukr Ahmed.
The visit aimed to strengthen students’ practical skills and link theoretical knowledge with the practical application of Total Quality Management systems, including ISO 9001, ISO 22000, and the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) system in the field of food manufacturing.
At the beginning of the visit, the Head of the Quality Department, Eng. Hossam Foda, delivered a presentation that included an overview of modern ISO management systems, their implementation mechanisms, and the application of the HACCP system. He also explained their impact on improving production flow and achieving the highest quality of final products.
Afterwards, the quality department staff guided students and faculty members on a scientific tour of the production halls and quality control laboratories at the factory. They provided detailed explanations about the functions of each laboratory and the types of analyses conducted, in addition to introducing the latest equipment and technologies used in food sample testing.
This visit provided a valuable opportunity to observe the practical field and laboratory implementation of quality management and food safety systems, contributing to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
