The Department of Agricultural Machinery and Equipment, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit, organized a training course as part of the Global Entrepreneurship Week program entitled:
“The Use of Artificial Intelligence in Precision Pesticide Spraying to Achieve Sustainable Agriculture Goals.”
The course lectures were delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Alaa Kamel Sabr, Lecturer Dr. Mona Jameel Abbas, and Lecturer Dr. Amir Haider Ali. The program was conducted in support of the Sustainable Development Goals under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences, Professor Dr. Ameera Mohammed Saleh, and under the supervision of the Head of the Department of Agricultural Machinery and Equipment, Assistant Professor Dr. Qasim Mousa Madloul. The event was attended by a number of faculty members, staff, and students of the college.
The course covered several key topics, including precision pest control application methods, variable rate spraying technology, and convolutional neural networks and their role in detecting weeds and infected plants.
The program recommended the adoption of smart pest management technologies to reduce costs and environmental pollution in alignment with sustainable development objectives.
