Israa Rifaat Khairy from Department of Horticulture and Landscape Gardening  successfully defended her Ph.D. work with the title (The Effect of Acrylic Covering and Bio- and Chemical Fertilization on the Growth of Pomegranate Seedlings.)
The study aimed to produce seedlings with strong vegetative and root growth to ensure successful establishment after transplanting to the permanent field. It also sought to identify the physiological effects associated with the treatments applied to pomegranate seedlings.
The researcher recommended using acrylic coverings for seedlings, particularly during hot summer days and under high light intensity. She also recommended applying dry yeast extract due to its content of nutrients, amino acids, and favorable concentrations of growth regulators that enhance plant development.
