Hisham Sabbar Ali from  Department of Horticulture and Landscape Gardening successfully defended his Ph.D. work with the title ” Effect of Foliar Application of Calcium, Silicon, and Amino Acids on the Growth, Flowering, and Postharvest Storage of Shrub Roses “
The study aimed to investigate the effect of foliar spraying with calcium, silicon, and amino acids on the growth and flowering of shrub roses, as well as to evaluate their role in extending the postharvest storage life of the flowers.
 The researcher recommended the use of foliar applications of calcium, silicon, and amino acids to improve the growth and flowering of shrub roses. He also suggested applying the treatments that produced the best results in the production of ornamental plants, and recommended conducting similar studies on other varieties of ornamental plants.
